University of Texas at San Antonio UTSA Rising Star Award

Program Purpose

To provide educational assistance to new undergraduates with financial need.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Are Texas residents;
  • Are new undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours per semester) in a degree program at the University of Texas at San Antonio; and
  • Demonstrate financial need.

    To qualify, incoming freshmen must be ranked in the top 10 % of their graduating class. Freshmen transferring from another college or university must have a 3.8 GPA or higher.

    Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher at the end of the first year to continue receiving this scholarship.

Eligible Institutions

Available only at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Award Amount

Up to $1,000 (amount is pro-rated based on hours enrolled)

Application Process

Submit a FAFSA by March 31. All awards are made on a first-come, first-serve basis until funds are exhausted.
